"Surrender"
I love how pearls are used in analogies and parables. “Pearls of wisdom”…are all too often gathered at great cost. Through the trials, hardships and losses of life, the dark nights of the soul when we question our faith and what we believe in, they all play a part in the wisdom we gather over our lifetime. In the parable of “the pearl of great price” they are used to describe how the kingdom of God is of the greatest value. It describes total sacrifice and commitment and conveys the worth of the kingdom and the necessity of a whole-hearted response. When we take these hard earned “pearls of wisdom” we have gathered and surrender them to the Lord and allow Him to be the one that guides us and directs us, knowing that His ways are higher than ours and that He can see so much more than we can…that is trust and sacrifice, that is surrender.
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who on finding one pearl of great value went and sold all that he had and bought it” Mathew 13:45-46
“Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight or understanding but in all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him and He will make your paths straight and smooth, removing obstacles that block your way”. Proverbs 3:5-6
